A seawife’s life – Half a head of Hair!!!!
Why is it always so much easier to write about the things that go wrong rather than the things that go right. I have been trying to sit down and write how amazingly wonderful and exciting the last couple of weeks have been as my sailor managed to get home on time, we moved into Phase 1 of our beautiful new home and yet I just haven’t been able to find the right words to describe it all. The space, the light, the warmth and “I just love it!”
Anyway today started as any other. The boys had been booked in for a haircut but due to my husband needing to deal with builders I said I would take them. They were a delight walking up the hill, playing and even holding my hand. All was well upon entering the coiffure and George took his seat happily and had his “cool new haircut.” It was then Thomas’ turn and that was when the days event took a turn for the worst. I managed to get him in the seat, the coat as he calls it was put around his shoulders, the clippers switched on and 2 sweeps across the side of his were completed before he launched himself out of the chair and ran out of the door. The other clients were somewhat amused originally, and I was calm until the stand off had lasted for some 20 minutes. Even Thomas’ teacher, who saw the whole event unravelling (much to my dismay and embarrassment) approached, with caution, and after taking one look at his lop sided shaved head proceeded to persuade him he couldn’t come to school like that, to which he replied, in very good french (which did make me proud)that he didn’t care and wasn’t bothered. She somewhat smugly smiled and said “oh well i’m not working today” and wandered off leaving me with the most stubborn, strongest and ridiculous looking 5 year old.
A phone call to his father later and after threaten of me leaving him there we got him the seat. He of course sat like an angel from then on and had a lovely big boy haircut. Upon leaving he was polite, shook hands and it was as if the whole event was in my imagination. It took me somewhat longer to forget however and cost me a bottle of wine to apologise to the hairdresser. Think I’m going to buy a clippers and do it myself from now on!!
I promise to be back soon with pictures and stories of the house and how the rest of the build is progressing. A Bientot!!!!!!
